I feel like a child waiting to open his Christmas presents.
Tomorrow I will be off to the Zwartkops Air Force Base for the annual air show.
Last year saw over 30 000 spectators and this time around I will be taking along a good friend of mine, Mike Lerios from Fotochaps

I will be picking him up at 5:30 am so that we can get to the Air force Base early before the mad rush starts.
I have always wanted to see the SANDF Rooivalk attack helicopter in real life but have never had the opportunity as they are all kept at 16 Squadron in Bloemfontein.

So the cooler box is packed and the long lenses are in ( along with a borrowed 2 x converter from Mike). Sun block is loaded and the batteries are charged for a day of fun in the sun.
Will update the post with the photos once I am done.

God bless

I am glad to announce that Paul Pearce will be slowly moving over to a new website and company name called Studio 27.
The reason for this is that in today’s digital age there has been an explosion of wannabe photographers on the scenes.
Anything from Portraits to maternity and low and behold the wedding industry.
A lot of new comers think that the wedding industry is a big cash cow and they will make bucket loads of money from it.
The sad truth is that when new comers arrive on the scene with maybe only a hope of doing a wedding for a client with their
newly purchased camera and free printer that they got on special and advertise the shoot to clients for a tenth the price a professional charges.
Price is not always everything in life and the client will have to ask them self the difficult question.
Can we afford not to have a professional, and hire a rookie who has not got the experience to take care of your dream wedding,
ranging from the contracts to the professional service you get and pay for.
The rookie might only loose the small amount of money they charged you and nothing on their reputation.
Every photographer now a day’s seems to have their website and company name the same as their birth name and surname dot com. There are lots of them.

This my friends has been the main driving force for me to break away from the crowds and to stand out like my style of photography does.
I have moved over to a generic name and as time goes by and the professional staff numbers increase,
they will work under one name and one roof to deliver professional service to You the client.
PaulsPhotos will migrate over time and then be discontinued to give all the new clients time to find the new site.
The contact number will remain the same as will  your favourite Photographer, Paul Pearce.
I look forward to the mammoth task of moving over all the old post and pictures from PaulsPhotos to Studio 27.
For this reason you will still find al a lot of my older works on PaulsPhotos.

Look forward to working with each and every one of you.

God Bless

Paul

The old saying goes, when it rains on your wedding day you will have good luck in the marriage.
I will have to say that David & Annamarie Nel have hit the Lotto Jackpot with the amount of rain that fell on their wedding day held at Helderfontein Estates.

The rain came down in buckets as a lot of people from Johannesburg will know the weather we are having these days.
The rain stopped from time to time and it gave us a window of opportunity to get those stunning shots you will see below.
Annamarie was even gave to try out the new Pink gum boots I packed in.
The wedding day was nothing normal and that counted for the funniest garter and flower setup ever.
Not to mention the smiles on everyone’s faces when the opening dance turned into a Hip Hop dance to Rap.
There was not a dry eye in the house with the laughter from the guests.
Well done to Annamarie and David and I am sure you two are already blessed and thanks for sharing your special day with me.

As a general rule I don’t post before my clients have recieved their albums.
I would just like to share this one with you all:

Thanks to Joe Milton from ISPWP for granting me permission to make part use of his post.

Uncle Bob vs. A Professional Wedding Photographer

We like Uncle Bob. We really do.
He’s a great guy and everyone loves being around him.
He tells great jokes and can even do a few magic tricks at parties.
He’s the guy we all look forward to seeing at Thanksgiving.
Uncle Bob rocks. But what do you say if he offers to photograph your wedding?
It sounds pretty good.
He has a really expensive camera, and he says that he won’t even charge you.
It will be his wedding present! Awesome.
It sounds too good to be true! And it’s totally understandable to consider it.
After all, who wouldn’t like to shave a few thousand dollars off their wedding budget?
However… The problem with this scenario is that many clients have the same expectations of Uncle Bob as they do with the professional images they see in the wedding magazines. After all, anybody can be a photographer, right?
And if that’s true, why not save the money and put it towards something else?
It’s true that anyone can press a shutter, but it’s a wholly different thing to have them deliver professional quality images at a wedding.
Wedding photographer is considered by many to be one of the most difficult, challenging, and high-pressure photography jobs.
You have to be master of multiple photography disciplines, and you have no luxury of a re-shoot if things don’t turn out.

So what are the REAL differences between Uncle Bob and a professional?
Why should you have much lower expectations from hiring Uncle Bob?
What advantages does a professional have? We decided to outline, in a lighthearted way, the differences between what to expect from Uncle Bob vs. a professional wedding photographer:

 PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE

Uncle Bob:
Takes wonderful pictures of flowers and his kids at the playground. Brings his camera on vacation.
Took a community college photography workshop about 5 years ago.
Favorite camera setting is “Auto.” Enjoys discussing the comparative merits of various cameras on internet message boards.
Doesn’t see the need to spend $450 for an external flash because his camera has a pop-up flash.

Professional:
Averages 3,000 to 10,000 images every week.
Knows how to shoot in all situations: dark caves, sunny beaches, large churches, in the rain, and in the snow.
Can quickly adjust camera settings blindfolded.
Adept at using ambient light, bounced flash, fill flash, and off-camera lighting.
Understands the principles of photojournalism, portrait photography, creative posing, and composition.
Is up to date on modern wedding photography styles and techniques.
Enters wedding photography contests.
Belongs to professional wedding organizations. Lives, breathes, and sleeps wedding photography.
